Group Description

Clean Nova Scotia (CNS) is an independent not-for-profit organization founded in 1988. Over the last 21 years, the organization has evolved into an effective and high-profile institution, with a broad mandate to work with individuals, government, business, and communities to improve the environment.

Project Description

In Frenchman Brook, a 73m rock retaining wall was built to improve the riparian zone and increase bank stability. Soils were placed on the bank and seeded with grass seed to stream side vegetation. On Grassy Brook, a 53m bank was rebuilt and stabilized using riprap, and then planted with grass seed and a variety of trees and shrubs (61 trees and shrubs total). On Ellenvale Run, on a combined 150 linear metres of the stream, one rock deflector and 4 digger logs were installed, a large quantity of debris and litter including 17 shopping carts were removed, and major bank stabilization work was undertaken using anchored logs and riprap.
